Critical Mass Oviedo

What you organized, when, where and for how many people?
I facilitated the Critical Mass Oviedo (June). This activity takes place every month, coinciding with the critical mass worldwide. Also, apart from the bike ride through the city, a documentary about the first Critical Mass was screened. It was held on Friday, June 1, in Oviedo and approximately 20 people attended.

What were the main goals and objectives of the activity?
Since its inception, the purpose of the critical mass is to publicize the great advantages a greater presence of bicycles can bring in cities to mobility, society and the individual, to reduce the nuisance caused by motorized traffic: noise, pollution, traffic jams, insecurity. The idea was to raise awareness that those of us who travel by bicycle do not block traffic, we are traffic.

What were the main outcomes and results of the activity?
The activity was very positive. After the documentary, there was a debate about what it means to be a cyclist in a city where the car is the king, what you have to change, as we see the inhabitants of different cities.

Are there any other relevant aspects related to the activity, a conclusion or future plan?
The conclusion was that we need to take back the cities, free of cars and what this entails, to have cities that are more friendly to people.
